At Lejaan, we pay meticulous attention to even the smallest detail. Whether it’s the sewing process or the final product, each stitched seam is important to us. Read on to find out what approach we have towards the production process, why we think handmade is best, and why we tear our fabric.
In the age of globalization, automation and mass production (where manufacturing processes often migrate to large companies) skilled craftspeople are needed less and less. However, such a production process lacks the human touch and attention to detail, meaning poorer quality products as a result. At Lejaan, right from the start, we decided on a different approach- to craft our products.
We sew all our bed linen in small workshops, thus keeping alive the artisan tradition and personal relationships, too. This proximity allows us to offer premium-quality textiles that we have full control over.
When selecting suppliers, we pay particular attention to transparency, open innovation approaches and the ability to establish long-term relationships. This combination helps us to constantly push the boundaries and ensure maximum quality from the very beginning of the production process.
Every piece is meticulously inspected throughout the entire production process. So, at Lejaan, you won't find an inch of fabric that hasn't passed through human hands! Our attention to detail and hand production also led us to choose to tear yardage instead of cutting it.
The tearing method allows us to maintain the true crosswise grain of the fabric, which prevents seam twisting. Such a distortion is common for yardage that is cut (a technique commonly used in mass production and industrial plants). Fabric tearing is used in smaller workshops and in hand production where tight and precise grain line cuts are required. Despite it being a more demanding process, tearing helps us achieve perfection.
Bed Linen with Practical Details
Our attention to detail can not only be found in the production process, but also in the design of our products.
Our bed linen features the tried and tested envelope-style design with the perk of stitched shoulders. This combination ensures speedy changeovers, keeps the duvet in place and gets rid of the need for (short-lived) fasteners. For our largest-size bed linen, we’ve added corner ties for a better fit and to keep the duvet in place.
You’ll also find practical details on Lejaan bedsheets. They’re fitted (featuring elastic corners) for a snug fit and also feature shorter side labels to help save bed-making time.
