So, how do you pronounce Lejaan? Leeanne, Ledganne or Layeen? We’ve heard it all. Here’s our story and what’s behind this six-letter word.
Lejaan was founded by three friends, Marcel Gecov, Jan Kmoch and Jan Bartoš. It appeared on the market in 2020, though preparations for its launch began three years earlier. Seeing as the guys were perfections, business strategy plans were sometimes stopped midway and redesigned. For example, just before the brand’s launch (when name tags had been printed off and the products almost ready for sale), the guys decided to completely change the brand name!
“It was after a joint trip to Thailand when suddenly at the airport we realised we needed a different name for our lovebrand; one that would aesthetically look and sound top class all over the world”, explains Marcel. The original and somewhat conventional brand name idea ‘Just Pure’ got the red card and was replaced by the unusual-looking word Lejaan. So, what does the name mean?
The word Lejaan is, in fact, an anagram of the founders’ names. ‘Le’ taken from the name Marcel and the ‘jaan’ with double ‘a’ reflects the other two same-named founders, Jan. The correct pronunciation of the brand is “Le j ɑː n”, but no matter what way you read it, as long as the word makes you think of super-comfy bed and bath linen (and bed throws), all is as it should be.
